The short of it is: we had outgrown our original one, ONA. Kind of like how lobsters have to shed their old shells to keep growing bigger and better. We've molted (that's changing their hard exoskeleton, for all you non-marine biologists out there) into our next phase: Meridian.
But this rebrand is much more than just a new name and look. It’s a chance to really hone in on our unique value proposition, connect with like-minded ocean advocates, and make sure those who need us can easily find us.
Meridian as a name represents the core of what we do: strategy. Helping our clients navigate the constantly shifting tides of the attention and media consumption habits without getting lost in them. Focusing on driving positive behavior change, not bloating vanity metrics.
Meridian is also about turning complexity into clarity. Be it ocean science or international law, we specialize in distilling complicated issues into compelling messaging that resonates with target audiences and drive them into action.
When it comes to company values, we are of the school of “Show, don’t tell.” So we wanted our identity to reflect them in a holistic way. But if you are curious, they are: Generosity - embodying a genuine spirit of service towards our clients and the ocean. Integrity - being worthy of trust and never compromising on truth. And impact - never losing track of the outcomes that truly matter and relentlessly steering towards them.
Our new identity is unapologetically ocean-focused because that's who we are and who we're passionate about working with - amazing ocean advocates who just wish someone would take care of their communication needs so they can double down on what they do best.
Speaking of our awesome humans, our team has grown a lot since we first founded the agency in Barcelona.
